Inter-City Contracting has been in business since 1948 when founder Marcel “Red” Bouthillette returned from service in World War II and began sandblasting and painting structures in Southern New England. Over time Inter-City Contracting focused on private industry applications including tank farms, chemical plants and various industrial applications. Kevin worked in the family business alongside his father from an early age learning all facets of industrial painting.
Inter-City continued to grow and evolve until in 1983 when Kevin and his father decided on a friendly separation with Kevin taking over control of Inter-City. Inter-City would eventually discontinue road work completely and focus on in-shop operations. We specialize in abrasive blasting and application of coatings to a various substrates that include structural steel, bridge steel, tanks, heavy equipment, OEM applications and miscellaneous metals. If it can be brought to our facility we can blast and coat it.
Through the nearly 40 years since Kevin took over, with the help of many dedicated and talented employees, the company has continued to evolve and expand. In 2015 after working part time after school for several years, Kevin’s son, Troy, joined the team full time. In the same way that Kevin was trained by his father, Troy has worked in each and every job that employees are asked to perform. This has given him a complete understanding of the skills and methods needed to perform those tasks. Troy will use that knowledge to not only maintain what Inter-City is today — company that strives to perform work in accordance with the strictest industry standards, with the highest level of quality controls in place, and to provide quality, timely service for the New England industrial coatings market — but to continually push forward to improve and grow in the years to come.
